Name: Tsunade Age: 51 Gender: Female Rank: S-Class Kunoichi of the Legendary Sannin Appearance: Described as one of the most beautiful women, Tsunade’s appearance is the ultimate lie to one's eyes; she tends to look approximately thirty years younger than she naturally is, sometimes taking the look of her teenage self, and – at other times – a mature woman. Of course, in order to escape loan sharks she often ducks beneath various other guises, though in her preferred form she’s easily recognizable. An almost intimidating woman with (nowadays) a bitter smile on her face, Tsunade has a long stream of hair which she often ties into horse tails, a thick set of bangs framing her rather pale (for a field kunoichi, at least) face. Her thick lashes are done with kohl and her lips apparently glossed, yet the most eye-catching trait of her facial features is over her forehead; a diamond-shaped marking, in a shade close to indigo, marks her chakra seal and focus point. Her brown eyes seem almost autumn due the contrast of her golden hair, and she often walks in a tense and intimidating posture – that is, in a crowd, though she’s more often than not slouched over a barstool taking in sake. Far from the cries of “flat-chested Tsunade”, the kunoichi has an absurdly large bosom, which would perhaps draw attention away from her face and chakra seal anyway. Tsunade often can be seen in a lightly shaded wrap-around vest, tied at the waist by a dark navy (almost black) sash. Made of an almost satin like fabric, the vest is stitched with black and often cream, pale gold or silver in color. Over top of this she adorns a jacket in almost dulled shade of forest green, the sleeves going down to her wrists while its length drops to mid-thigh. On the back of this is a bright red plate bearing the phrase “to gamble” upon it, a reference to her obvious taste for the act. She prefers to wear dark blue leggings which stop at mid-calf, and terribly high black heels which – though otherwise impractical – she has so well adjusted to that she can engage in combat with them. Her prized possession is a necklace inherited by the Shodai Hokage; Tsunade believes it to be cursed, as both shinobi she gave it to – her fiancée, Dan, and her younger brother Nawaki – died soon after accepting it. It is said that anyone unworthy of the title Hokage will be unable to live passed adorning it, and So Tsunade keeps this apparently deathly trinket about her neck at all times. Worth more than the total of three entire gold mines up in the mountains, it’s of two of a kind, with a cut blue stone dangling from a silver ring adorned in metallic beads. |
Personality: Tsunade is, to say the least, an extremely bitter and forceful personality. The losses in her life have allowed her to inherit a cursed necklace, a severe case of hemophobia, and a violently negative outlook on the world which includes a fiercely practical opinion of shallow human dreams. Known for a harsh addiction to both alcohol and gambling (the latter of which has gained her the title “The Legendary Sucker”) her temper can be violent and her demeanor furious. Known to mock and belittle those that speak to her, she regards others with a certain degree of disgust – especially those that have semblance to her deceased loved ones. Inwardly, Tsunade has given up on heroes and happily ever afters; to anyone asking, she hasn’t been a kunoichi in the longest time. She claims that its all right to want to live your life as you want, to die as you want, and that you don’t have to keep fighting for a lost cause; a lack of genius will never merit the attention of a prodigy in her eyes, and she’ll tell an aspiring kunoichi that you’re either a tool or a person, and if you can’t compete you shouldn’t try to. Those who fantasize childishly about protecting lives and their village, dreaming of becoming Hokage – she scoffs at these, concluding that a Kage only dies for his people, and to take that title is to throw away one’s life. Agitated within the walls of Konoha, Tsunade’s return – expressly due to the fact that her attendant is a current sensei – has the old woman on edge, and her defiant personality is flaring barriers about her thoughts, daring someone to come forth and tell her otherwise, yet knowing, with twisted satisfaction, that there isn’t a soul in the village that can prove her bleak outlook wrong. |
History: Born on the second of August over fifty years from the present day, Tsunade was the granddaughter of the Shodai Hokage, and, in turn, the great-niece of the Nidaime Hokage. Her prestigious bloodline alone could’ve earned her the nickname “Tsunade-hime”, yet this kunoichi gained other reasons to be a prominent ninja in the Hidden Leaf village. Graduating from the Academy at the outstanding age of six, Tsunade was later placed on a three-man team beneath an awe-inspiring Shinobi known as Sarutobi, who would later become the Third Hokage. Alongside her new team-mates, the prodigy Orochimaru and the irritating Jiraiya, they took the original Bell-Test with their sensei, which ended with both she and Orochimaru leaving with bells in hand, and a heavily agitated Jiraiya. As open war immersed Konohagakure, the talented kunoichi took her place amongst the ranks, an amazing medic-nin in her own right. Attending to wounded shinobi in the field, she became a great nuisance to the opposition; her rival Chiyo of Hidden Sand found herself greatly aggravated by the talented medic-nin, saying that the Slug-Girl could whip up antidotes faster than she could conjure poisons. Amidst this, Tsunade found herself in the possession of her Grandfather’s necklace, a priceless artifact of great symbolic value; one day, she approached her brother Nawaki, a spirited boy who dreamed to be Hokage and watch over his grandfather’s village. In order to surprise him and encourage his goal, she bestowed upon him the Hokage’s heirloom, to his great honor and excitement; unfortunately, it was from here on forward that things went truly awry. After a war raid, the kunoichi found herself face-to-face with both of her teammates, who stopped her from going in to see her younger brother; Jiraiya attempted to prevent her from seeing Nawaki, a preposition to which she argued viciously, until her other comrade informed her of the state of things. Ruthlessly, Orochimaru informed her that he was so mangled that she wouldn’t be able to identify his corpse either way, and returned the Hokage’s necklace to her ownership. As time progressed, the death of her younger brother a weight over her shoulders, Tsunade continued her duty to the village, but this time with very decidedly voiced opinions. She insisted to the council that the training of medical ninja should become top priority, in order to increase the chances of Shinobi surviving their missions in such a dangerous time. While it was argued that they had no apparent time to attempt this strategy, Tsunade found her demands backed by an unexpected ally – a Shinobi named Dan, whose ideals were so similar to her brother that the kunoichi found herself opening up to him. Learning that Dan had suffered a similar event to Nawaki’s death, the pair found themselves becoming close to the point where Tsunade entrusted him with her necklace, asking him to take it for her, and placing her faith in him in this fashion. Sure enough, the next tragedy struck. It was on a mission in which her team had taken refuge from the fighting, blood pouring from her fiancée’s body as she desperately tried to stop the bleeding; no matter how much chakra she poured into healing Dan’s wounds, the effects were so minimal that Tsunade found herself helpless to stop his inevitable death. As his last few breaths escaped him, she pulled her blood stained hands up to her face, tears in her eyes and desperation in her heart, and couldn’t help the fear. It was noted later that the legendary Tsunade had become hemophobic, shedding away from the battlefield. Taking an apprentice beneath her wing, Tsunade later set out to traveling with Dan’s niece, Shizune, trying to find some escape from the bitter memories Konoha held as Orochimaru took leave of Hidden Leaf, her sensei enforcing his place as the Sandaime Hokage, and the students of her former teammates both appearing as brilliant shinobi. While she heard of Jiraiya’s student becoming the Yondaime, this hardly affected her in the least; likewise, when he passed away after sealing the Kyuubi into a Jinchuriki, Tsunade continued to be silent. Taking loans under various guises, the Legendary Kunoichi now finds herself under the title “Legendary Sucker”; she bets high and loses every time, using her unique brand of Henge to escape loan sharks. With Shizune and her pig, Ton-Ton at hand, her days consist of traveling, sight-seeing and drinking, gambling as often as she can with debt under her heel. She takes any win superstitiously, believing it to be a calm-before-the-storm, or a hint at fierce trouble in her future, and speaks very little of what she knows of the world. Currently having returned to Konoha in light of her attendant becoming a jounin-sensei, Tsunade is unfortunately withdrawn and mostly keeps to herself within the village, dealing most associations with a heavy hand of logic and scorn. |
BATTLE INFORMATION Weapons: Though Tsunade walks apparently unarmed, this seems hardly a problem as her attendant always is armed with an arsenal of poisonous needles; as it is, this Sannin prefers her Ninjutsu and insane strength, and is rarely seen with a weapon or tool (unless absolutely necessary in medical procedures). Known Jutsus: Chakra no Mesu; Chakra Scalpel (Variant/alternate: Chakra no Enjintou) Initiated by medical ninja, this technique is often used for field surgery. Passing through the required handseals, the medic-nin will pull and concentrate chakra into their hands, collecting and focusing the energy for the moment of contact. As soon as their hands meet the patient’s body, they elongate the energy in a blade-like fashion which has no apparent effect on the skin, but – while leaving it intact – can slice muscles, blood vessels, bones and so forth with ease. While it can, in theory, be actively used in battle, the split second focus and concentration makes the possibilities of a lethal or even effective hit slim, as the fine precision required in its use cannot be achieved in such an environment. Anything less than a medical genius would be completely unable to harness the ability for a fight, and even those capable of doing so should only use it attentively and with utmost caution. Chikatsu Saisei no Jutsu; Healing Resuscitation Regeneration Technique A medical jutsu which requires an undesirable amount of energy to perform, this A-rank technique uses an area of the patient’s body (often the hair) as a medium to channel healing chakra; the seal required to perform this is wide enough to fill a room, and it takes a terrible amount of time to complete. Often, medic-nin on duty will alternate with one another, this technique being virtually exhausting to them. Chiyute no Jutsu; Healing Hands Technique By concentrating chakra into the palms of their hands, a medic nin is able to create a small ball of regenerating energy. When used and focused properly, this can be used to heal the damages invoked upon another person. Unfortunately, this technique is limited, being unable to repair major wounds and extensive damage to vital organs in most situations, and requires more concentration depending on how severe the wound is. Dokumeki no Jutsu This increasingly complex jutsu is used to extract poison absorbed into the human body. Infusing water with one’s chakra, the medic-nin will insert it directly through a patient’s skin, forcing it to isolate the poison and literally pull it from the organs involved and drag it back out again. Increasingly difficult for the patient’s body to react to, the medic-nin performing the Dokumeki will often require the aid of restraints and use the jutsu to return the patient to a stable state, after which they will use the extracted poison to form an antidote for a full recovery. Gouwan; Strong Arm Constant practice of this technique allows Tsunade to use it without even thinking; almost instinctively. By focusing chakra into her fist and releasing it sharply upon contact, she generates an insane strength forged on chakra control alone, able to shatter boulders, upturn the earth, cause craters and send bodies sprawling clean through trees. Henge no Jutsu/Tsunade’s Transformation Technique Unlike most performances of the Henge, Tsunade’s version seems to be absolute. While blows often will dispel this jutsu, physical damage does not force this disguise to yield in Tsunade’s case; the only thing that lifts this kunoichi’s Henge is the drain of chakra stored within her Shadow Seal, yet resting after its performance will revert her appearance back to its falsely youthful form. Infuuin: Kai; Shadow Seal: Release The Infuuin: Kai is an S-rank sealing technique unique to Tsunade; it was developed in order to use her Master Healing Technique, the Souzou Saisei. The visible seal marked on her forehead, this fuuinjutsu acts as a focus point, accumulating and storing her chakra until she initiates the release; at her command, the chakra will reenter her natural processes, pumping back into her body. Kanashibari no Jutsu; Temporary Paralysis Technique (Body Freeze Skill) This Ninjutsu, used on the most part by Anbu ninja, is used to freeze a target in their tracks and restrict/deny movement. Increasingly dangerous if initiated in a proper situation, it’s mostly used to create an opening for a larger attack. Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Notably Katsuyu, Slug Queen) Having signed a blood contract with the slugs, Tsunade’s summon represents the final link to the “Snake, Slug, Toad” ring of the Sannin; by performing the necessary hand seals and using her blood to bring Katsuyu forth, Tsunade is able to use the slugs not only in combat, but making use of the healing properties involved in their mucus.
The Ranshinshou is a close range electrical Ninjutsu used as a nerve attack. Charging the chakra into her hand, Tsunade is capable of creating an electrical field upon bodily contact, disrupting brain signals in order to make it nearly impossible to continue combat. The design of this A class technique is to confuse the electrical impulses used by the brain to direct commands to various body parts; medic-nin have a potential to throwing off this technique, but only after advanced understanding of the body and outstandingly high, and precise, combat skill. Shousen; Mystical Palm Technique This A-rank medical technique is an upper had to the Chiyute no Jutsu; focusing chakra into their hands, the user can heal an individual’s wounds and – should they be skilled enough – lethally critical injuries. Tsunade, being an insanely advanced medic-nin as is, is able to perform a number of otherwise impossible surgeries by means of careful precision and controlled prowess of this technique. Souzou Saisei This S-rank technique is claimed by many to make the legendary kunoichi, Tsunade, immortal in battle. After performing the Infuuin: Kai, she uses perfect chakra control to target the onslaught of energy from the diamond-shaped focus point marked upon her forehead. Manipulating it with insane skill, she allows the chakra to disperse and use the proteins of her body to cause excelled cell division, reconstructing all damaged areas of her body and even recreating any organs necessary. Because the technique is based on advanced healing as opposed to regeneration of the old cells, this technique has a sharp downside – it shortens the user’s natural life span. This is due to the fact that the cells of a human can only split a limited amount of times, eventually forcing the body to yield to death. Additionally, use of the Souzou Saisei is the only thing that appears to effect Tsunade’s version of the Transformation Technique; after using it within a battle, her appearance reverts to its true form, her youthful look only being restored after rest. Tsutenkyaku; Painful Sky Leg (Super Heel Drop) An executed kick from the air, Tsunade will combine her chakra to reinforce her insane strength into making contact; the power from her Tsutenkyaku is known to cause massive destruction to the battlefield (devastating craters, for example), almost to the same effect as a miniature earthquake.
