"Nighttime has come,
Gone is the sun,
Dream sky is spun,
Stars, one by one...
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Hush, hush, hush."
The wails of a young, newborn baby were soon shushed after hearing this soft, soothing voice sing to him. Cradled carefully in his mother's arms, Naruto Uzumaki's small blue eyes slowly began to closed, his neck pressed up against his shoulder, hands placed behind his head as if he were playing with his hair.
Standing up, the beautiful young red-headed woman holding this newborn placed him in his crib, carefully. "Goodnight, Naruto." She whispered, standing over the crib, looking at the baby. As she did this, a tall blonde figure stepped into the room, and looked over at the female.
"He's asleep." She told him.
"I know." He muttered, blue eyes falling onto the baby, watching him sleep peacefully.
Silence.
"He looks just like you." The red-haired woman muttered, finally daring to speak up. Another scene of silence.
Deciding to change the subject, the female - Kushina - looked away from the crib, and to the male that stood behind her. "Minato, how did Kakashi-san do on his first mission, leading the squad?"
Oyasumi, close your eyes,
Oyasumi, close your eyes,
Oyasumi, close your eyes,
Sleep, sleep, sleep.
"Very well." The Yondaime Hokage muttered, also now turning away from the baby, and walking out of his room. Shortly after Minato leaving, the young kunoichi left Naruto's room as well.
Kushina smiled a little. "He's a good ninja, that Kakashi - not as good as you, though - no way!"
THUMP!
"What... was that?!" A rhetorical question.
Several screams were heard afterwards.
"I'll go check it out." The blonde shinobi paused for a moment, and looked at the dark room they had just come from. "Kushina... stay here." He wanted both his son and wife to be safe... in a safe location; just, overall safe. Not only did he want to die by defending Konohagakure, but the Hokage of the Leaf Village wanted to die by defending his family, as well.
"But... it'd be better for me to go help!" she protested, obviously forgetting about her newborn child.
"Stay here!"
"But -"
Before Kushina could finish her protest, the young male was gone. He had no time to waste: a nine-tailed fox demon was attacking Konoha.
"...I want to go." The woman finished, softly, and left - leaving her newborn son alone in the house.
THUMP!
Oyasumi, dream of me,
Oyasumi, dream of me,
Oyasumi, dream of me,
Dream, dream, dream.
Naruto's mouth opened, letting out a soft cry that eventually turned into a wail - but with all the screams and equally loud wails outside, there was a small chance anyone heard the newborn baby's song of wails and screams. He was alone - alone in a house without someone there to lie to him and tell him that he was going to be alright - nothing or no one to soothe him.
Outside, the Nine-Tailed Fox was causing destruction, small amounts of people at a time. Only those who were lucky survived. This fox was unbeatable. Minato, for the most part, was still alive - and he accepted this fact just as much as many of the other ninja trying to protect the village were trying to do.
"I... have no choice..." Minato began, out of breath, making his way back too his house.
"Kushina!" He called as he opened the door. "Kushina... get Naruto."
Kushina didn't respond; all that was heard was a newborn-baby's wails.
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Hush, hush, hush.
Thirteen years ago. It all happened thirteen years ago. Naruto Uzumaki - no older than a month or so - was the host of the Kyuubi. Thanks to his father, who sacrificed his life to protect the village from any further damage. Despite Yondaime Hokage's dying wish, the adult villagers grew a severe hatred against him.
This made Naruto Uzumaki always the loner; always seeming to have no friends. He had grown up without a family - or even knowing a single fact about them or what lived inside him. He was often playing pranks on the village; trying to attain adoration. Of course, these silly attempts never worked, and he went on being hated.
...little does he know... that one person can change his life.
This is where Iruka Umino comes in.
After one day when the Uzumaki child had painted over the Ichidaime, Nidaime, Sandaime, and Yondaime Hokage's faces, Iruka - being his teacher - forced him to clean it up after school. Wanting Naruto to stay behind until all of the paint was cleaned off, Naruto remarked. "Fine, it's not like I have anyone to go home to."
Iruka suddenly felt sorry for the child; because he had lost his family, too.
"...I'll buy you ramen," Offered the sensei. "if you finish and clean this up."
"Oh! Haha. Don't worry! It'll be gone!" Naruto remarked.
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Oyasumi, hush my love,
Hush, hush, hush,
Hush, hush, hush,
Hush, hush, hushhhhhhh.
"Oh! Iruka-sensei!? Can I wear your forehead protector?" Naruto begged, slurping up his ramen as he sat down at the bar, enjoying the taste of the warm, chicken-flavored noodles.
"This? No way! It's a sign that tells others you've come of age and have graduated from the academy. Maybe you'll get one tomorrow."
On the day of the graduation, Naruto was the only one to fail. Whilst the others created three perfect clones, he only created one; and that one looked pretty dead.
"Hey, Naruto?"
"What is it, Mizuki-sensei?" He questioned his other sensei, whom had actually suggested that he let him pass. Soon after, Naruto discovered he was the nine-tailed jinchuuriki; as well as being used as a tool to give Mizuki a forbidden justu.
Although, he studied that scroll for hours, and when he successfully preformed the jutsu and saved Iruka and his own life, he was given a hitae-ae, a symbol that he... like the others... had finally graudated.
