Name: Yamanaka Ino Age: 12 Gender: Female Rank: Post-Graduate (Qualified Genin) Appearance: A healthily built kunoichi, this girl is known for her bright blue eyes, a striking shade of turquoise, and rather uncommon hair; where it certainly doesn’t stand out as much as Haruno Sakura’s audacious color, Ino takes pride in her platinum blonde locks – grown long especially due to a challenge from the aforementioned rival. Peachy skin gives her an almost delicate look, something she cares for with great vanity, her thick lashes and cheeky smile unaided by any sort of additional cosmetic paint, her nails left plain though well-minded. Hailed for her obvious views on the fashion world, Yamanaka Ino takes her style to great pains; her most common hair-do is a high horse-tail with her lengthy bangs let loose and swept to the side. With her ears clasped in earrings which signifies a bond to genin Nara Shikamaru and Akimichi Chouji (the second generation of the Ino-Shika-Cho trio having been unexpectedly broken up due to the reassorting of genin sensei), Ino is known for an proud and altogether confident attitude, with one of two expressions: gently cheerful or raging lunatic. Unlike most young kunoichi, the Yamanka girl doesn’t favor her work robes for daily use, and rarely in the flower shop she assists in tending; often her outfits vary according to occasion. However, in the company of her teammates and Sensei, she adorns fresh white wrappings from her thighs to her chest, the fabric being fine silk in a cheeky kunoichi trick she unveiled; her shuriken holster overlaps these on her right thigh . She wears an extremely short black skort beneath a skirt layer of royal purple, her hitai-ate slung like a belt over the bandages covering an otherwise bare abdomen. The matching top she wears is sleeveless and drops only just beneath her chest (functional, so she claims), and she wraps a scarf-like garment clasped into this shirt which creates an almost elegant collar to the outfit. The straight edge is pinned inside of the folds while the other end, having a pointed cut, drops over the front of her shirt. Three looped, silver claps dangle from one side of it, to match with the ‘Ino-Shika-Cho’ earrings she adorns in acknowledgement of “the Winning Combination.” |
Personality: The Boar, the Blood, and the Balance; A Kunoichi Yamanaka Ino: Growing up around symbolism, Ino is extremely agitated by the lack of respect rivals express towards her name. Yamanaka comes to mean ‘middle of the mountain’, and she takes this in a metaphorical sense – the mountain being an indomitable kunoichi, and the name referring to its solid, well-buried heart. The apparently vapid kunoichi takes great irritancies to the undermining shown with insults like ‘Pig-chan’ or ‘Porker’, an attack on her looks (which she thinks very highly of, being appropriately vain) rather than a look at the meaning her mother bestowed upon her. Comparing her personality in all the fashionable ways, let us venture forth into the fascinating realms of vapid teenage girl-hood. The Boar (Inoshishi): It is remarked that individuals born beneath the wild boar are known for their courage. Their will is fearsome and they possess a powerful inner strength that is almost impossible to successfully challenge. While extremely short of temper, beings reared beneath the boar are averse to arguments and quarrels and are known for their honesty and sincerity; often, they’re considered naïve. Their affections towards precious people are great in measure, and their natures compassionate. Intellectuals, they set difficult goals, yet also tend to be materialistic. “Chototsu-moushin” is of the Yoji-jukugo mentioned in respect to them, meaning roughly to approach things recklessly and without contemplation (as the wild boar runs). Blood Type B; The Hunter: Individuals with this blood time are known for several things. Opposed to custom, they’re creative, optimistic and flexible, yet often wild and unpredictable. Incredibly strong, they’re quite the individualists. Back to the Point: All right, so the first thing you see when the Por- I mean, the Yamanaka girl comes along… How should I say this? You don’t think courage, not at a glance. You thing arrogant, bossy, excitable and – if one Uchiha Sasuke is in the vicinity – air headed fangirl. Then again, you don’t know that her arrogance is a ruse and her confidence an assurance, and that she’s bossing the girls around because these essentially timid (but you wouldn’t know otherwise) kunoichi gravitate towards whatever cocky leadership she can provide. What can you say? She may be loud and apparently obnoxious, but she’s got a charisma one-on-one that you can’t shed away for anything; she’s besotted with the latest fashions, but one of the most promising female genin yet. The girl has an indomitable will, which of course leads to a couple rash decisions – or at least, they seem rash. Ino’s known for making an outrageous performance of herself, embedding intelligent and clear thoughts into her subconscious and acting accordingly; while she’s more inclined to play it safe and leave a dangerous situation, her tactics are often unexpected and a brilliant draw when she needs them, her thinking being of a completely different sort than her genius acquaintance, the so-called ‘un-cool’ Nara Shikamaru. Materialism? I’ll say – or at least, you’ll see. While she seems like the kind of girl who can be wooed by something shiny, inwardly Ino can be quite the girl to value all the ‘important’ things in life – its just, things are easier when the important things are private. Despite her petty disposition, you’ll find the Yamanaka girl to greatly cherish the intellectual and mental traits of others, and – in her own way – she encourages such things in her circle of friends and acquaintances. While she tends to follow the crowd in various situations (doubtless another form of security), this also leads for a struggle for her own individuality, especially while she’s busy making the buds around her blossom and bloom. Inwardly, Ino takes her personal bonds very seriously; while petty rivalries and fierce competitions, social standings and so forth by appear to distort her view on people and rank them accordingly, those who she spends time with have a drastic height in value and must be assisted and protected even at the cost of her logic. There’s a part of kunoichi that wonders if she’s still pursuing Sasuke to make Sakura keep working for him – she knows for a fact that she wouldn’t be more than a little bummed herself if the boy went out and died one day. Extremely compassionate she allows others to take the lead on their relationships with her, and this is where her courage goes in: she’ll suffer through whatever the other person needs, whether it’s a build in confidence or an outright declaration of war, and at times force herself to step back so the other can take the spotlight. This kunoichi has a temper, I’ll warn you – and the betrayal of a friend may cause her to become increasingly riled up, though inwardly she rarely considers it a real break-off. You have to remember, dealing with plants all her life, Yamanaka Ino knows the meaning of patience – she just pretends she doesn’t care until someone needs her to. It’s the point of compassion; the so-called Ino-pig knows how to act like a snob and be a person; all at the same time. She also knows how to set goals as impossible as anything; she doesn’t know how to loose. She knows how to draw, and where to pull the limit, but she never outright looses in her opinion, despite how severely depressed she may get in being a burden to a teammate. That said, here lays her current confession: she doesn’t care if her friends feel like becoming better Shinobi – she doesn’t really want to be a ninja. Instead, her ambitions lie in one goal: Yamanaka Ino will be the greatest kunoichi known, and tough to the dolls out breaking their nails. |
So we all know Yamanaka family history, right? Right? Okay, so, not really. All anyone really knows is that when Ino entered the academy at a young enough age, she was a popular and interesting girl with an intriguing talent for ikebana; the Yamanaka girl, still without any jutsus at her belt, could fend off any challenger with nothing more than a cool grin and a handful of weeds. She was confident, charismatic, and an excellent student - naturally, these promising traits kept a tally of envious friends and reluctant or begrudging admirers from her peers. All was well in the budding kunoichi's world. We also know what happened while she was there; Yamanaka Ino found herself looking down upon a sobbing girl with the most striking roseatte hair she'd yet seen. Unfortunately the other child was pathetic, tears streaming down her face and her bangs hiding a large forehead. With apparent tactlessness she commented that she could see what they meant by 'fore-head girl' and informed the other girl that she'd have something for her tomorrow. And so, pulling the bangs out of the roseatte's face, Yamanaka Ino found herself taking Haruno Sakura under her wing, building up pride and assurance in the other girl in order to give the kunoichi a reason to really thrive in the environment given to her. Consequentally, the Haruno girl's book-smarts became more prominent in her grades as confidence was reinstated to her, and falling with ease into Ino's crowd of kunoichi. Sakura made something out of herself by means of Ino's gradually subtler support until finally - over something as foolish as a childhood crush - the pair, being the best of friends, broke apart and tried to stay that way. Sakura, deciding to end the friendship for a proper rivalry, Ino was tense rather than betrayed; perhaps there would be some childish anger there, but it also had to be taken into accord that eventually the blonde would figure out how things lay. Sakura needed to break things off so she didn't crumble again, watching Ino show her up or having to fall back on her friend - and so, Ino accepted it. All the while, she determinedly pursued the attention of the Uchiha boy, unwilling to loose almost as a reprimand to her friend, but more accurately simply trying to keep a reason to distance herself from Sakura. Though her friend's marks were undoubtedly higher than hers (highest in the class, actually), Ino was aware that this was a small triumph; there was no doubt that the blonde would end up performing better in the field than her pink-haired rival, especially since she came from a shinobi family. Unfortunately, as the Sandaime Hokage rearranged guard regiments for the Chuunin exams (Sand had decided to enter, and the mysterious Sound village, about whom little was known, was also engaging in the tournament), Jounin who were supposed to teach were reassigned and genin who would otherwise compete together rearranged. The second generation of Ino-Shika-Cho were broken away from the scheduled jounin instructor, Asuma, and Ino found herself volunteering to delay her attachment to a three-man cell until a new instructor was available. Turning her attention to upping training with her father and practicing the arts - instrumental play, fan-work and dancing, and the work of ikebana the flower shop might provide -, Ino still continues her training in private, awaiting a sensei to formally take her on and accepting that she may not be able to take the exams this term because of it. |
BATTLE INFORMATION Weapons: Ino uses, for the most part, the standard kunai and shuriken most ninjas make use of. Additionally, having been raised to the scent of thriving flora, this particular kunoichi has been known to identify and make use of any poisonous plants in the vicinity, or to brandish them with the same precision as a blade. Additionally, Ino finds herself inclined to arm herself with various types of explosive tags, for long-range combat and the art of distraction; as it is, she’s freshly learning to use them effectively. Known Jutsus: Bunshin no Jutsu; Clone Technique (a.k.a. Art of the Doppleganger) This jutsu is designed to create the illusion of a shinobi, making it appear as though the user has created replicas of themselves. Used solely as a distraction, these clones disperse as soon as they come into contact with enemy shinobi. Henge no Jutsu; Transformation Technique The Henge no Jutsu allows a ninja to alter their appearances, used to disguise themselves or impersonate other individuals. Jibaku Fuda: Kassei (Exploding Tag: Activate) This allows the user to set off exploding tags from a distance with Chakra. Kawarimi no Jutsu; Change of Body Stance Technique (Art of Substitution) A Ninjutsu in which the shinobi switches places with another object, or even another person entirely. This is used solely as a strategic jutsu. Nawanuke no Jutsu (Rope Escape Technique) A basic technique taught at the Ninja academy, this jutsu allows a ninja to free themselves if they have been tied up. Shinranshin no Jutsu; Mind Derangement Technique This B Rank jutsu is a clan technique passed down from Yamanaka Inoichi; the Mind Derangement Technique may be used both in close range combat and mid-range initiation, and functions by the projection of spiritual energy from the user. Meant to confuse, the energy will force itself into a ninja’s functions and cause it to attack an ally nin or else disrupt his own efforts in attacking. Unlike the Shintenshin, the Shinranshin does not require the user’s consciousness to be projected from his or her body, and also leaves the target completely aware of his actions yet helpless to stop it. Yamanaka Ino, while aware of the Shinranshin, has not yet mastered it. Shintenshin no Jutsu; Mind Body Change Technique (a.k.a. Art of the Valentine) A C rank Yamanaka Clan jutsu, the Mind Body Change technique is used to launch the spirit directly from the user’s body to seize control of another one. Forcing aside the target’s mental processes, successful use of this technique gives the user total control of the body until they release their spirit back into their body. Unfortunately, the downfalls of this ninjutsu restricts the user from participating with it in battle as opposed to spying; when initially forcing out ones spirit, it travels in a straight line and is slow enough for any adequate ninja to dodge. If the user misses his or her target, their body will slump unconscious for approximately several minutes in which the spirit blindly attempts to relocate it. Should the target’s body also be attacked while possessed, the Shintenshin user’s body will also suffer equivalent damage, altogether aside from the fact that the user’s body is completely helpless while uninhabited. Ninja of a more dominant mental prowess, or who have a history of suppressed IDs, will also find themselves capable of forcibly ejected the Shintenshin user. This technique may be used for both close-and mid-range combat. ***Yamanaka Ino, having an excellent degree of chakra control, also shows potential for medical and other precision jutsus, if taught. Main fighting style: Ninjutsu (Currently, Mind Manipulation Techniques); uses Taijutsu to compensate for a lack of attacking ninjutsus. |

Roleplay example: We all know this example from the 'At Fourteen' thread; Sakura has just expressed 'inner turmoil', as Ino would put it, and dumped the breakfast said 'pig' has brought along for her right into the blonde's hair. Here lies the reaction. =3 She froze. Bright teal eyes widened as Sakura overturned the boxing, dumping its contents into Ino’s high-tail of platinum blonde. The kunoichi opened her mouth, limbs trembling as she attempted to find something to say, body going rigid; her gaze flashed upwards, furious and wounded, as egg streamed over her face. “You… you god-damn brat,” she hissed, and though her teeth were clenched together and her fingers easing into her tied hair, the only real expression on Ino’s features painted some great hurt; perhaps if it had been a mutual squabble, something not so serious, she would’ve screamed back with more vigor, retaliated in a more active way. But that look on her face – on Sakura’s face – that was wrong. This was all so wrong. From where Ino stood, she could do two things; she could go to the Haruno household and clean off beneath the eye of her rival’s mother, or she could pursue said rival and beat sense into her; hands fisting up on the sides of her face, the kunoichi watched as Sakura plunged into a run, leaving her with only the retreating back to deal with… No. No way in hell. Sakura was going to talk to her, and she didn’t give a shit whether or not she had to beat it out of her, medic nin or no. Furiously sweeping off her hair and rubbing sauce from her eyes, the kunoichi whirled on her feet, flickering after the other as fast as she could; Sakura wouldn’t just give her what she wanted, and what Ino wanted was an explanation – just a glimpse into those viridian eyes, just a look at that face. Was Sakura crying? The yell that escaped her was strangled and hoarse, and Ino’s eyes were fixed with bitter anger and glowering resentment; she reached out desperately as she ran to try and seize Sakura’s shoulder, the words escaping her all the same. “Damn it, Sakura, all I want is for you to talk to me!” |
