Surprised at Kiba's question, Hinata was momentarily stunned before her face turned back into that charming shade of red she seemed to really, really like.
"W-Well, because..." Hinata started, trying to think of the words she should use to explain this. She had never really tried before and for her, the crush just existed. She hadn't really thought of the real reasons before, just preferring to know the fact that yes, she did have a crush on Naruto.
Chewing on her bottom lip for a few seconds, although it seemed much longer than that to the Hyuuga girl, Hinata said, "I w-wouldn't say that I h-have an anchored reason but I admire h-him. Naruto-kun h-ha everything I don't h-have... I m-mean, he's confident and..."
As she broke herself off, Hinata's eyes focused on the table. So much for a decent explanation. She could only imagine what they thought of her for not being able to summarise something so simple up.
{I've never liked NaruHina. I had to look up the reasons. XD }

( Poor Kiba. I never liked Naruto/Hinata, either )
Kiba shut his eyes tightly. He felt his stomach churning as he listened to Hinata's words. Great. Naruto was everything she wasn't...? That was the only reason? They hardly came in contact and Kiba had spoken much more often to Hinata than he ever did...Naruto-baka was too busy drooling over that Sakura girl...
Wait. He wasn't, jealous, was he? No. Kiba? Jealous? Never. Not at all. Kiba wasn't jealous. Of course he wasn't jealous of the blond twit whom the shy girl was busying herself to admire whenever she looked at him.
"Why couldn't-- you have liked someone else?"
Kiba heard his voice crack as he spoke quietly, trying to keep his tone low. But, it was becoming harder, for reasons that were beyond the role player and his control. He formed a harsh fist with the hand that was in his lap, shuddering, quite angry for himself. Kiba just wanted to make sure that those whom were around him were happy, in the first place. But, what about him?

Hinata was confused, to say the least. Why was Kiba so concerned about this matter? And furthermore, in all due respect, was it any of his business? Perhaps he was just taking a friendly interest? Although Hinata didn’t know for sure a the moment, and she was just thinking of things that could be a possibility. She found herself looking a little concerned when Kiba had closed his eyes, although once again that could be explained by Kiba summarising his thoughts. Oh well. Hinata wasn’t a mind reader, was she?
As Kiba’s question fell on her ears, her confusion for this situation grew. Wow. Kiba had been making her feel a lot more confused than she wanted to be, hadn’t he?
“I don’t k-know,” Hinata started, feeling thoughtful. After a few seconds of hesitation, she continued with, “I don’t t-think that you can d-decide who you’ll l-like. Eventually, I think t-that everything has an end s-sometime… that applies to everything. That’s like f-fate, isn’t it? J-just like an ending, we c-can’t choose w-who we like.”
She was fully aware that she was repeating herself, but the words were just coming out of her mouth as she had been speaking. “S-Sorry… that wasn’t m-much help,” she mumbled, looking back down at her untouched ramen. She felt awful for some reason. Pausing for a moment, she had just remembered that Anko was still there.

"Out of all the people...You like him..."
Kiba opened his eyes slightly, staring down at his bowl of ramen, which was begining to grow cold. He bit his lip, causing it the bleed after such a small bite. Why was it, that a kid whom was so stubborn managed to get Hinata's attention? But, Kiba knew he shouldn't have been thinking such thoughts. He, himself, was just as stubborn as Naruto. Yet, why was it, a kid who enjoyed making a fool of himself and causing trouble had managed to get Hinata to look his way, no matter the situation, as long as he was around. Why?
"...It could have been anyone..." Kiba muttered. "...Shino...anyone. Me. Anyone...But, no. It was Naruto...N-Naruto."
Once again, Kiba's eyes closed, the boy sighing ever so slightly.

Anko smirked and looked at her students." Perhaps what Hinata is trying to say is that she couldn't help it if she likes Naruto, she just does. Destiny...perhaps.." she shrugged, having finished her bowl and ordering another. She sighed and crossed her elbows on the table and leaning forward.

In a few short words, Hinata felt awful now. It was just something about the current atmosphere and the way the trio were conversing that was bearing down on her now. She gave a small nod at Anko’s way of explaining the message that Hinata had been trying to get across before, “That’s right…”
As she looked over at Kiba, Hinata soon found herself looking away. It was her fault that he was currently acting the way he was, and that was making her feel even more… whatever she was feeling at the moment. “Sorry…” she mumbled again, as though if she continually repeated that one word everything would soon be better. As her eyes focused on her ramen, she had decided to eat that so she wouldn’t waste it, and then go home. It was all she could do.

Kiba smiled weakly, turning to Hinata.
"It will be alright. If that boy ever finds out the truth, he better treat you with respect." he said, quietly.
Kiba picked up a pair of chop sticks, begining to eat his cold chicken ramen. Despite it's coldness, the flavour was good.
"And...if he doesn't....I'll beat him up for you." the boy chuckled, softly. "But, I won't hurt him too bad..."
In no time, Kiba managed to down the whole bowl of ramen.

The thought of Naruto finding out still unnerved Hinata, just mainly because of the reaction - just like Kiba had been suggesting. She smiled a little at his suggestions, feeling a little better and not feeling as though she had been the cause of this entire thing. Mumbling some incoherant underneath her breath, she followed Kiba's actions of actually starting to eat, appearing a little surprised at first at how cold she had allowed the ramen to get.

( My posts are always short. x.x )
Kiba poked the bottom of his empty bowl with a chop stick, sighing.
"Well, this stinks...My bowl is empty." he said, trying to pay attention to the matter. "Like an empty space--"
On second thought.
"--on the inside." Kiba sighed, softly.
He shut his eyes, moving the chopstick around in the bowl.
"I like you, a lot."

Anko nearly coughed up her ramen as Kiba spoke last. Aha, so she was right. She knew it. She looked at Kiba as Hinata's back was turned and gave him a thumbs up. She went back to eating, waiting for them to continue.

When Kiba had first spoken up again, Hinata had looked over. She had only eaten about three-quarters of the ramen in the bowl, and although it wasn't much, she was going to offer Kiba the rest. It wasn't a lot, but at least it was a small offer of friendship. When he had continued, that made Hinata shake her head a little.
Misunderstanding the meaning of Kiba's final words, she smiled back with, "I l-like you to.."

Kiba blinked, twisting slightly to look at his sensei. -Crazy woman.-
He then turned back to look at Hinata. "Like I said, I like you...Very, very much." he said, quietly. "And, I'll be here if you need it."
Kiba scratched the back of his neck with the end of one of his chopsticks. He then pulled his hood back over his head, feeling a bit accomplished.

Hinata blinked as realisation of what Kiba was saying finally set in. A pink blush settled on her face, as she looked down, unsure how to react. Nodding slowly, she only managed to say, "Oh, I see."
Deciding that it would be best to acknowledge the rest of Kiba's statement, she continued with, "T-thank you Kiba-kun."
If she was confused about how to react around the team, or any uncomfortable or unusual situations she was put in, before, she probably was definately confused now.

Kiab blinked, staring dumbly at her.
"...as a friend." he sighed, feeling that girls see things the wrong way. "But, I'd advise you to practice your taijutsu instead of worrying about Naruto. Your life and skills are much more important than he is..."

Hinata nodded, "I understand t-that."
As shallow as Hinata thought it sound, she was feeling a little relieved. It seemed as though Kiba was turning back into the Kiba she knew again, if even if he was deciding to play as an advice giver. "I'll work hard..." she assured quietly under her breath, although she didn't know if either Anko or Kiba had heard.
